Istitut du monde arabe
In France, there is a building, the Institut du monde Arab, which celebrates Islamic culture. The Institute was designed to house a museum and cultural centre celebrating the contributions of Arab-Islamic civilization to the modern world. The museum has a collection of more than 400,000 items from around the Arab world, and the cultural center hosts exhibitions and events related to Arab culture. The Arab World Institute is one of France's most important cultural institutions, and this is a place I have always wanted to visit.
Situated in the heart of Paris and built more than three years ago, the Arab World Institute is a symbol of Arab-Western co-operation. The institute itself is a cultural centre designed to bring together people of all origins and to promote intercultural dialogue. The building was designed jointly by French architect Jean Nouvel and Arabic architect Abdel-Wahed El-Wakil to represent the meeting of two cultures. The most striking feature of the building is its southern façade, which consists of a complex system of movable loungers.
