The island of Burano, between history and legend

The history of the island of Burano Venice has its roots in the distant past of the origins of the city of Venice, when the population of Altino fled because of barbarian raids within the Lagoon on the neighboring islets, to which it gave its name. The word Burano comes from the word Bora, that cold and strong wind that is very often heard blowing in the Lagoon during the winter months (very famous in Trieste).

Visiting Burano Venezia does not take much time but the experience is unforgettable and to be observed with attentive eyes to every detail. You can choose half-day tours, 4 1/2 hours, or full-day tours, 6 1/2 hours. Departures are either from San Marco or Piazzale Roma. We also have departures from Cavallino and Punta Sabbioni in the high season from April to September.

Murano and Burano: all tours to visit them together

To visit the islands of Venice with scheduled tours you can choose various starting points. If you are staying in Venice, or if you have chosen the beaches of Veneto for a nice vacation, you can choose from at least four starting points: Piazzale Roma and Riva degli Schiavoni in Venice, Punta Sabbioni and Treporti on the north side of the Lagoon. Burano -Venice how to get there? Means of transportation

Do you want to know how to get to Burano by the right means of transportation? If you have not booked a boat trip for your island tour, then you can get to Burano Venice by ACTV waterbus.

To get to Burano you have to take line 12, which connects the islands of Murano Burano and Torcello from Venice's Fondamente Nove, the journey is about 45 minutes long-a small cruise that is very crowded during the summer months. You may find yourself waiting for vaporetti and unable to get in because of too many people. Be careful because the ticket is valid for 75 minutes (with changes you may exceed the time and have to obliterate twice) for €7.50 per person.

So a good choice may be to buy the 24H ticket that costs €20 per person or the €30 ticket for 48 hours. That way you can get on and off the vaporettos as many times as you want! For those coming or going to Punta Sabbioni just take lines 12 or 14. Finally for Marco Polo airport there are no direct connections, you have to go back to Murano or Fondamente Nove with line 12 and here take the Alilaguna direct.
