Ganso Sapporo Ramen Yokocho
Ganso Sapporo Ramen Yokocho, known also as ‘Ramen Alley’, is a street that is usually busy with famished tourists and residents alike.
This small gallery is known for its long history and is also a popular sightseeing spot where to take a picture or eat ramen.
It is the home of ‘Miso Ramen’ and the first place to put ‘Sapporo Ramen’ on the map and make it a nationwide name famous in the entire Japan and abroad.
Ramen Alley began in 1948, with the opening of 8 ramen shops.
You often have to wait your turn to get in.
There are now currently 17 different ramen restaurants that line the alley.
These ramen stores are often busy with people lining up in queues to get in.
Every restaurant has its own distinctive style and special flavour.
Every Raman Shop in Ganso Sapporo Ramen Yokocho, has its own opening and closing times, usually from midday until late night.
The alley itself is open from lunch until the early hours in the morning.
The Ramen alley can get very busy, around midnight, due to many customers getting hungry, after a night out drinking in Susukino.
Many of the shops have an English menu to let the tourists read and they are welcoming with travelers.
Ordering is easy and the staff usually are very sociable.
If you are in Sapporo, and looking for a satisfactory meal, while experiencing a little historyof Hokkaido and Sapporo, look no further than Ramen Alley.
